Abuse can happen at any time during the life span — infancy, childhood . . . all the way through to the last stages of life.
Some forms of abuse can occur in any life stage. Spiritual abuse, for example, seems to occur over a wide range of life stages.
In the following pages we look at kinds of abuse which tend to be associated with specific life stages. In the real world, of course, there are no clear boundaries between life stages. And, to make things even more complicated, one person may experience a variety of different kinds of abuse during life.
